ITC New Baskerville is a revival typeface based on Baskerville, the beautiful workhorse originally designed by British type founder and printer John Baskerville in 1762. Originally released in only two version - roman and italic - Baskerville has remained one of the world's most widely used typefaces. In 1978, Mergenthaler Linotype Company released a revised and updated version of Baskerville which included additional weights with corresponding italics. Through a licensing arrangement with Linotype, ITC released New Baskerville in 1982. ITC New Baskerville is available in roman, semi bold, bold and black weights, each with a corresponding italic.
