ITC Leawood font

The design of ITC Leawood was begun by Les Usherwood. His untimely death, however, in 1984 interrupted the project with only a small portion of the work completed. Usherwood's talented staff at Typsettra in Toronto, Canada, completed the design as a homage to the English-born designer. ITC Leawood has small, yet well-defined serifs which aid readability and allow for close character fit. Much like Optima, character strokes are stressed and have a slight flare. As in other Usherwood designs, the ascenders are somewhat taller than the capitals. The italic is unusual in that it combines the qualities of an inclined roman and a true cursive. The lowercase "m," "n," "g" and "e" reflect the roman design; while the "a," "b," "f" and "y" are based on more free-flowing letterforms. ITC Leawood is available in four weights: book, medium, bold and black, each with a corresponding italic. The book and medium weights also include free small caps and oldstyle figures.
