Not your average text or display font." That's the way designer George Ryan describes his unconventional typeface ITC Kristen. Currently a principal designer at Galpagos Design Group, Ryan has 18 years of experience in all aspects of digital typography.
The original inspiration for ITC Kristen came from a hastily produced, handwritten menu at a neighborhood restaurant.
Eventually, Ryan moved away from the original letterforms toward something more like a child's scrawl.
The result is a unique pair of typefaces that have no dominant ascenders or descenders.
You might call them "uni-case" fonts.
At text sizes the faces allow you to take liberties with leading.
Whether it is set solidly or loosely, in all forms ITC Kristen maintains its legibility.
The typeface includes two fonts: normal and not so normal.
