ITC Golden Type is a revival of one of three typefaces produced by British designer William Morris. Drawn to type design by his interest in writing and printing, Morris set out to design his own type style, and used the Roman designs of Nicholas Jenson as his foundation. His creation was Golden Type, so named because it was first used in his printing of The Golden Legend in 1892. A relative typographic unknown in his native England, Morris and his type designs soon became popular in Germany and America, and spawned a desire for more robust and dynamic type in the early 1900s. ITC Golden Type is available in original, bold, and black weights. Due to the nature of the design, it is recommended that ITC Golden Type not be used at small point sizes or with tight letterspacing.
