In 1938 Frederic Goudy created what was in his eyes one of his most successful typeface designs for the University of California Press located at Berkeley. Drawn by Tony Stan ITC Berkeley Oldstyle contains much of Goudy's original Berkeley design and adds little bits of other Goudy originals such as Kennerley Goudy Oldstyle Deepdene and Booklet Oldstyle. Characterized by its calligraphic weight stress subtlety of line and classic x-height ITC Berkeley Oldstyle is inviting and easy to read. ITC Berkeley Oldstyle is available in book medium bold and black weights each with its own matching italic.
